if we are to look at matthew 1:17, looks like there were 42 generations from abraham to jesus.. if we take 1948 bce (abraham's birth) and we take it to jesus baptisim (29 ce) we get to 1,977 years.. so lets divide 1977 years by 42 (the amount of generations), we get to around 47 years for one generation.. 1 generation = 47 years.. 1 generation + an overlapping generation (1 generation more) = 94 years.. this is all in the first chapter of the new testament..... comments welcome.....

Growing up, it was usually a good thing when there wasn't any seats left at the meeting, and some had to stand. It was more bragging rights for that particular cong, and in a weird way everyone felt "upbuilt"....
I honestly don't know what to make of it all. KH construction in the western world should be a non issue.
Why would the rank and file complain about overcrowding when, probably 90% (estimate), live in boxy accommodation due to the WT policies of no college education etc. Doesn't make any sense.
Why are the WT being so hostile and bullish with their approach, and pretty much ordering elders not to say ANYTHING negative.
It is obviously about money, but why?
GB do not directly benefit in a monetary way. FACT. Although they DO live a cushy lifestyle, you can not quantify it by money. It is not theirs.
People say lawyers and PR people benefit. Yes, they probably do, but they will be on a WAGE, like they would be earning working for any other cooperate company.
Wheres all the money going? What are they going to do with old buildings? What is the point of it all?
So many questions that only people at the very top would know.

Apple are filthy rich - One would argue WT has a LOT of money stashed away
Apple release something new every year at their AGM - WT AGM we usually get "NU LITE"
Apples old products go out of date quickly - WT teaching seem to have the same shelf life these days
Apple and their followers are convinced their products are the best and are at the forefront of innovation, when in fact, the new iPhone 6 had the same technology as a phone 2 years earlier. The iPhone just looked slicker - WT thinks they are at the forefront of religious doctrine and teaching, when in actual fact they are trailing the pack, with Mormons and (cough) Scientology leading the way with the NET and video and all that jazz.

as the title of the thread says, i woke up this morning realizing more than ever that we should, each and every one of us, live for today and what we can accomplish today, rather than constantly looking toward the future.. i'm not implying we shouldn't make plans, plans are healthy and advisable, especially if you have healthy commitments.. but i realized the reason why nothing in my life ever seems to get done, is because i put things off, and look ahead 10 years down the line, then a few days later realize how much work needs to be put into that said task, then i don't do anything.
and so the cycle seems to repeat itself.. what i think i'm trying to say is that worthwhile endeavors that have a reward at the end, but take many years to get there, need to be challenged one day at a time.
i now understand that to get to where we want to be 10 years down the line, we need to focus on today and the hard work that needs to be out into a task one day at a time.

Living in the hear and now is actually harder than it sounds, after years of being told to look to the future, and to "set goals" for the "kingdom".
I remember when the year 2000 arrived. I remember thinking about the future in 15 years time, and to think we would all still be here was akin to apostate thinking. Alas, i am now living 15 years later, wondering how the fu** i'm going to get out of this mess of a religion with my family and sanity in tact.
Thankfully, the only looking to the future i am doing, is working out an exit strategy, and i think i have it nailed.
i recently watched this excellent interview with ex members of scientology.
i was blown with how much former members sound like ex jehovah's witnesses.

To be brutally honest, i couldn't care less about defectors of the Scientology religion, and i'm sure 99.999% of people who have never had any links to Scientology (or any other cult including JWs) wouldn't really care. People don't care. FACT. People are too busy struggling with their own lives to care about bullsh** religions.
